The Board and team at Women in Business would like to offer their sincere congratulations to our new Chair Edel Doherty. Edel a member of the Women in Business board since September 2008 has always been an active and passionate supporter of Women in Business. During her time on the Board she has served on numerous works committees. Edel has also recently launched her own successful business Barrhead Travel. As a new Managing Director and Chair of of WIB she will have her hands full.

Here's our building site, now start volunteering................

Women in Business are delighted to announce that they have taken on the Habitat challenge to build a house right here in Northern Ireland. We will of course require help in the form of volunteers! The project is in Madrid Street in East Belfast and will require 200 volunteer home–building days. Part of an international charity, Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland is a Christian cross–community movement for regeneration and reconciliation within and between communities in Northern Ireland and around the world.

Joint Networking with the NI Chamber of Commerce – 25th March 2010

Business networking was the theme of the day as over 150 local businesses took part in activities designed to help them make new business contacts.

The initiative delivered by Women in Business in partnership with Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and funded by Invest Northern Ireland. Appropriately, the Equality Commission also supported the event which saw female led businesses meet with their male counterparts.

New confidence amongst women reduces gender barriers

Gender barriers are narrowing amongst the UK's entrepreneurs, according to a new survey from Business Link. Of the 1,010 women entrepreneurs polled, the number who feel they have had to work harder than men to impress the rest of the business community has dropped from 29% last year to just 7%.
