Alexander Mann Solutions’ Million Makers

This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Prince’s Trust. As a UK-based charity they aim to support young people who are vulnerable, unemployed or at risk of exclusion in school, who may be in care, or facing issues such as homelessness, mental health problems or trouble with the law.

As a global provider of talent acquisition and management services, Alexander Mann Solutions partners with over 65 blue-chip clients across 80 countries, with a key focus on youth and emerging talent.  Our 3,000 expert colleagues, a number of which specialise in skills assessment and development, actively volunteer their time to support local youth within their communities, helping to develop their skills, and supporting them to reach their fullest potential. The Belfast Alexander Mann Solutions team is involved with their local Prince’s Trust through a variety of initiatives including hosting tailored workshops on CV writing, interviewing and communications skills, team building, and employability.

For the 40th anniversary of The Prince’s Trust, the Million Makers scheme was launched, which sees a number of businesses across the UK from SMEs to global corporate compete to design an entrepreneurial project in a Dragon’s Den style competition to collectively raise £1 million in funds by January 2017. These funds will be used to support the amazing work carried out by the charity, with a bit of healthy competition to see who can raise the most!

The race to reach the £1million target began in July and the Alexander Mann Solutions Belfast team at the Global Client Service Centre on Great Victoria Street have already raised a whopping £1500 towards their £10,000 target, through a number of fundraising initiatives such as street collections, bacon bap Friday’s, and the Sour Sweet Challenge which sees colleagues nominating each other to eat super sour sweets for 20 seconds all to support the cause.

Future events include an all-day golf event at The Royal, Portrush with 368 players from Lagan Construction, Michael Chandler Estate Agents, Women in Business NI and FScom and many eager Alexander Mann Solutions players, currently warming up their swinging arms. The team have also organised a huge tag rugby event which will see over 30 teams from organisations across Northern Ireland such as AllState, Arup and Citi get together at the Newforge Rugby Club on the Malone road, to compete in a friendly tag rugby tournament to help raise awareness and vital funds for The Prince’s Trust Million Makers. Also keep an eye out for bungee jumpers at the Titanic Quarter; it’s likely to be a member of the Alexander Mann Solutions team!
