Barbara Allen - Local Artist
22/03/2012
A native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, Barbara is an artist best known for her watercolour renderings of vernacular architecture. A chance visit to Portmore Pier in Donegal, whilst the fishermen were bringing in their catch inspired Barbara to diversify.
Mackerel, crab, lobster and gurnard were soon included in fish identification posters designed for the kitchen and now useful in the classroom, holiday house, seafood restaurants and retail outlets.
In this first for Barbara in Glasgow there will be on display a poster entitled "Chowder" which features Scots Gaelic translations. Two new prints of a Sloop and Galway Hooker will be launched also. "...all rendered with consummate ease and delicious texture"
