Malmaison Belfast takes Top Award

On Sunday 25th January Malmaison held their annual ‘People Awards’ an event to recognize the individual and team achievements in 2014. The event was opened and closed by Executive Chairman Gary Davis.

Malmaison Belfast takes Top Award
Over 300 team members, representing each of the 13 hotels in the portfolio, attended
the big top themed event in The Woodland Suite at The Belfry. This comes after months of nominations, judging and assessments to determine who would take the stage and receive the top prizes from the recently appointed CEO Paul Roberts and event host and organizer Lindsay Southward, Malmaison Director of People & Development.
 
Award categories were chosen to recognize all the key disciplines in the business and highlighting unsung heroes such as Night Managers, Deputy General Managers, Financial Controllers and House Keepers. Brand specific awards of General Manager of the Year and Hotel of the Year were hotly contested as all the business has enjoyed a year of strong growth and profitability. 
 
Gary Davis was keen to highlight the groups continued growth and strong performance, thanking those in attendance and made particular reference and thanks to those back at the hotels keeping the business going. 
 
‘I am delighted to see you and your teams here tonight and equally enthused about the strong teams you have nurtured, that you have back at the ranch taking care of the business. If you are going to win anything you need strength in depth, our programme of team development is bearing those fruits.’
 
With Danny Cassell picking up Deputy General Manager of the Year and James Rush picking up General Manager of the Year plus several other team members being shortlisted in numerous categories it was shaping up to be a clean sweep for the Malmaison Liverpool team. 
 
However it was no shock that Malmaison Belfast sashayed away with the top prize. In recognition of their financial performance in the tough competitive market they operate in, their consistent positive customer feedback and mystery guest scores were ahead of the pack. 
 
Upon receiving the award General Manager Lisa Steele commented:
''We are delighted to have won this award and it is testimony of the hard work, dedication and passion from the Belfast team. I am so proud to be part of such an amazing team and it is the highlight of my career.''  
 
The event was supported by some of the groups key partners and suppliers including Sky, Harvey Nichols, Patons, XN Hotel Systems to name a few.
