Hand-make something beautiful and unique with Magpie Belfast’s latest events.  ‘Make’ Parties offer the perfect activities for hen parties, kid’s birthdays, team building, festive periods, or just for something a little different to do.  You and your friends can learn new skills in the comfort of your own home.  Basic sewing classes, hosted by Magpie Belfast, are also starting in February.  Here you can learn or improve your sewing machine skills and complete a simple project like a new set of curtains, roman blinds, cushion covers or even a handbag.

Shanti McAllister, who runs Magpie Belfast, also makes handmade crafts, jewellery, accessories and homeware using recycled and repurposed materials.  She makes jams and chutneys using ingredients from her organic allotment.  Her products are sold locally at craft fairs and craft parties where people can browse and buy with friends in their own homes.  She is happy to receive one-off commissions or hire out large quantities of bunting for special occasions.

Magpie Belfast is founded on Shanti’s belief that nothing that can be reused should be wasted and that most things can be turned into something beautiful with a little love and some imagination!  Hence Magpie Belfast’s motto, “lovingly found, foraged and crafted”.  Shanti says, “Magpie’s materials come from charity shop finds, donations from friends and relatives and things I’ve hoarded for years because I knew they’d come in useful!  Nothing is wasted.  Everything I make has a history – a family tree -which I think makes each item even more special”.

Magpie products are ethical and environmentally friendly.  Shanti supports charity shops and local businesses via her purchases, and reduces waste through the finished products.  Many of the primary ingredients in the preserves are organically home-grown or locally foraged, and fair trade and organic ingredients are used to supplement these where possible.

If you are interested in holding a Make Party, hosting your own Craft Party, or if you would like to discuss a custom order please contact Shanti or find ‘Magpie Belfast’ on Facebook
