Why not get Tax relief on your charity donations?

20/03/2012
Surveys show that around two thirds of us give to charity each month. But now there’s an easier way of giving your charities more.

Payroll Giving is a simple tax-effective way to give to charity from your pay.
When you make a donation through the scheme, the tax relief means the charity receives more money without it costing you more.  Your donations are made from before-tax pay; this way (at the basic tax rate of 20%) it will only cost you £8.00 to donate £10 to your chosen charity.

Payroll Giving in Action (PGA) is a professional fundraising body dedicated to working with organisations, across all sectors, to implement and promote charitable donations via payroll.

The scheme provides individual choice to employees whilst assisting the company to enhance its corporate social responsibility strategy and continue to build better employee relations.

The payroll giving scheme is simple to implement at no cost to the company.  PGA provide all promotional materials, including a Giving Online intranet page branded with your company logo and colours, free of charge in addition to the services of an Account Manager and professional promotional staff.

PGA is proud to have worked with many National Award winners over the past 14 years, including Henderson’s Retail 2009, PSNI 2010 and The Whitbread Group 2011.   PGA worked in partnership to deliver effective promotions that are friendly, professional and non-intrusive.

Whitbread’s CEO Andy Harrison, "At Whitbread we are very proud of our Payroll Giving scheme which is an important part of our broader 'Good Together' CR programme. Over 20% of our team members have chosen to donate regularly in this way as it's easy and tax efficient. I would encourage every employer to be a force for good by helping their people support the charities of their choice in this way."
