The Linen Hall Library played host to twenty-two local small business owners and managers keen to discover the secret of successful selling at a one-day workshop on Wednesday 23 March.
Co-hosted by Business in the Community, Women in Business NI and CCS Training Services, the event was sponsored by ESB Independent Energy and designed to demystify the art of selling, provide a simple model to follow for any sales call, and help dramatically increase sales conversion rates.
Roseann Kelly, Chief Executive of Women in Business NI, said: "Delegates were treated to wealth of practical tips and advice presented by sales expert Lyle English of CCS Training Services who has over 25 years' global experience in the financial sector. This was a great opportunity for Women in Business NI members to access training which was both so critical, given the current recession, and also of such high calibre."
The group's feedback from the workshop was highly complementary about Lyle's excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject of selling and his very clear, easy delivery style and common sense approach. Several delegates also commented on how impressed they were with the Linen Hall Library as a venue and also for hosting the workshop as their contribution towards helping support the small business sector.
"It was very informative, delivered in an easy to remember fashion by a very friendly, knowledgeable and approachable presenter", commented Mairead Douthart, of Quality Personnel, one of the delegates present. "I learned a huge amount on the day that I will be able to put into practice immediately and it was really great to have such a useful and practical workshop available."
"Good selling skills are critical in the current economic climate for any small business. explains Heather Major, Business in the Community. "This seminar was one in a series being delivered across Northern Ireland as part of our Connections best practice initiatives to help small businesses survive the recession and promote responsible growth."
"We are delighted to play our part via the Connections programme, helping to nurture economic growth within the small business community," explains Susan Kinane, Managing Director of ESB Independent Energy. "The Northern Ireland economy has great potential and we believe that the business community must pull together to provide every competitive advantage for the SME sector. The Connections seminar series is proving to be an important step towards delivering this."
