From the Wild Beauty of NI to the Glamour of Hollywood

Born from a love of nature and wild places Belle&Basil Skincare gets inspiration for its 100% natural, vegan ingredients from the beauty of the North West. Many of the ingredients are grown in their 3 acre garden in Derry/Londonderry: Roses and Comfrey are organically grown, dried and infused into organic Apricot Kernel Oil; Crab Apple Blossoms and Daffodils are transformed into Flower Essences; Seaweed from Donegal.

Victoria, founder of Belle&Basil Skincare, is committed to creating a local product and a truly sustainable business. The skincare is handmade in the Garden Workshop which is powered by Green Energy. The skincare is packaged in beautiful glass and bamboo jars and the company encourages customers to return empty jars so they can wash and reuse them.

Victoria says:

“I started Belle&Basil because I was looking for natural skincare without any nasties in it after my Mum had breast cancer. I was studying herbal medicine at the time and was learning about the big impact that the parabens and synthetic ingredients found in most skincare have on our health. It was hard to find skincare that was 100% natural and also a light, gentle product that worked. So I started making my own. Foraging and drying different flowers and herbs, experimenting with using natural preservatives. It took years but I’m delighted with what we have finally created.”

When Isabel Lucas, Australian actress and Environmentalist, heard how authentic and natural the Belle&Basil products are she was amazed -“I couldn’t believe it when I learnt that you make this cream yourself. You pick the petals, find the seaweed. You even meditate while you are making it. It feels so pure". Isabel started her career in Home & Away and moved to Hollywood to star in films such as Transformers, Careful What You Wish For and In Like Flynn. She is also known for her love of nature and her campaigns to raise awareness of the environmental crisis.

For Isabel, Belle&Basil Skincare ticks all the right boxes as a clean, natural, environmental friendly product, but she also loves that it is amazing skincare which works. “Belle&Basil Skincare is so beautiful. I literally use it morning and night. My Mum uses it, my friends use it. A beautiful product. I love how soft and light it feels, leaving my skin feeling luminous, moisturised and smelling divine", says Isabel.

Influencers are saying:

“When I put this product on my skin, you can almost feel the ingredients massage your face and the glow was instant. My skin felt hydrated and even the next morning my skin still looked radiant and bright. I rate this product 100/10 It is worth every penny and I cannot give it high enough praise. I’m so impressed I’d go as far as saying it is the best moisturiser I’ve ever used with instant results.” @lifewithoutplastics

“I’ve been using this absolute potion of dreams for a little while now and I’m so impressed by how my skin feels” @whatlunaloves_

“I’ve been testing this cream on mature skin and the results are really good. It helps to fade away wrinkles. It smells amazing too and it’s homemade, free from harsh chemicals.” @_eyemakeuplooks

Belle&Basil Skincare only launched at the end of 2019 but has already received rave reviews. It is an exciting time for a small start up from NI.

There are 3 moisturisers in the Belle&Basil range so far (including a fragrance free one for sensitive skin). Prices start at £18 - £48.
