Tickets on Sale for Trailblazing Mount Stewart Conversations Festival
Tickets are now on sale for headline talks at Mount Stewart Conversations Festival which is set to return on 1 and 2 September 2018. The inspirational festival sees Mount Stewart open its gates, offering free entrance for guests to enjoy a weekend of music, culture and entertainment.

The line-up at the festival includes an insightful talk with Labour MP, Kate Hoey and former Alliance MLA Anna Lo. They will discuss what life is like for our current female politicians, those who are brave enough to enter the fray of political life. They will reveal the daily challenges they face and how their experience in the public eye has shaped them.

Additional guest speakers include activist Rebecca McCabe and authors David Aaronovitch, Roaul Martinez and Daniel Macmillan Voskoboynik who will discuss whether we live in a golden age of activism. In a world surrounded by Russian bots, Trump, and fake news, have the scales tipped again back in favour of the establishment or is there something else going on? The panel will host a rousing debate around the future of activism and how we can make a difference.

This unmissable weekend festival centres around the theme of Women and Power, set at Mount Stewart, which has a unique history as a nucleus of magical debates, creativity and influence. Edith, Lady Londonderry was a pioneering suffragist who passionately campaigned for women’s right to the vote and founded the Women’s Legion and as its Commander became the first women in history to be awarded a DBE in the military division.

Celebrating 100 years since Emmeline Pankhurst, Edith, Lady Londonderry and many more, led the charge to achieve partial suffrage for women, festival talks will uncover the fascinating stories of the trailblazing ladies of Londonderry. Learn more about Edith, Lady Londonderry and her role in shaping the lives of women today from historians Adrian Tinniswood and Dr Diane Urquhart who will be joined by Lady Rose Lauritzen, granddaughter of Edith, Lady Londonderry.

Mount Stewart Conversations Festival has also teamed up with two cutting edge arts partners: Seedhead Arts and Beyond Skin, who are offering a stellar line-up of acclaimed guests who will engage visitors in debates, sensory experiences and talks on a vast array of emotive and inspirational subjects.

Jon Kerr, General Manager, Mount Stewart, commented, “We are delighted to announce that tickets are now officially on sale for headline talks at Mount Stewart Conversations Festival.
