I decided to set up The Art and Design Factory after l hosted a successful art birthday party for my son last year. The feedback from both parents and children was so positive and inspiring that l decided to offer this to other parents.
As a qualified teacher with 18 years’ experience I want to share my passion and enthusiasm for Art and Design to all ages and abilities. Through participating in art workshops, the individual gets the opportunity to relax, unwind and enter the “art zone” which is similar to a meditation. Modern society constantly bombards us with digital technology and gadgets and sometimes it is beneficial for us to get creative with our hands and minds.
Over the summer months of July and August the Art and Design Factory are running Summer Art camps across Belfast including McCracken Memorial on the Malone Road and Bredagh Hall on the Ravenhill Road. The Art and Design Factory camps are a great way for your children to spend a week of their summer holiday working on cool art projects. Each child will finish the camp with a framed landscape painting, various other drawings, paintings and several 3d Papier- Mache artefacts by using different types of materials and media.
The Art and Design Factory offers a wide variety of Art and Design classes and workshops. Our birthday parties have proved very popular. I have hosted birthday parties in the children’s home as well as other venues such as The Ulster Museum, Church Halls and Sports Clubs. The child can choose the theme in advance such as movie characters, video game characters to their favourite animals. Where possible we aim to always ensure each child draws and paints something of their choosing. The Art and Design Factory has a “no mess, no stress” policy for home parties. All surfaces are protected and children only use water based paints. Each child produces a finished piece of artwork which is framed at the party and is taken home as an alternative to party bags.

Bespoke adult parties are also offered. We can set up in the comfort of your home and offer a bespoke Art class for your family or group of friends. This is a relaxing, uplifting experience which builds on self-belief and boosts confidence. We find that wine usually helps to unleash creativity and get the ideas flowing!!
The Art and Design Factory also offer a children’s art workshop at weddings or other functions when the little people also need to have a good time but away from the grown-us. The most recent workshop was hosted at The Galgorm Hotel where the children in the 'Mia and Molly Foundation' Fashion Show were entertained by attending a watercolour workshop. The children really enjoyed the experience and so did their parents.
As a qualified Mindfulness Practitioner, we offer art and mindfulness combined workshops, here the participants are guided through a meditation session followed by a focused specific art class to suit the needs of the attendees and their condition. We have recently run some of these focused sessions with the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The Art and Design Factory are also available for corporate events and functions. We can create a workshop around the specific goals of your business. You may choose from a relaxing day where everyone creates their own individual art work through painting and drawing. This event will involve a step by step guided lesson. Group critiques will be given throughout where the individuals assess their colleagues work by giving constructive criticism on what they are producing. This builds on friendship and trust through everyone taking advice from one another to achieve their finished goals. The work will be presented in a frame to the individual that can be displayed within the work place or at home. A real sense of pride and accomplishment will be gained from undertaking this workshop, individuals who have little or no Art and Design experience will quickly realise how important it is to believe in their own ability to achieve despite maybe having initial reservations.
Alternatively, group projects can be undertaken where small groups work together to produce a larger artwork. A group of canvases are created by individual teams before coming together to create a large artwork. The teams can take their artworks away to be displayed with a sense of pride in their offices.
