60 Seconds with Danielle Devlin of Cubis Systems 1. Tell us about Cubis and your role within
Cubis Systems is a pioneering company for innovation within the design and manufacture of access chambers and cable ducting systems for infrastructure networks across the world. Our products are used across a multitude of Major sectors including Rail, Telecoms, Highways, Water and Power. We are the first choice for customers seeking rapid and modern solutions to enhance infrastructure platforms across the Globe.

Within my role of Country Manager, I am grateful that daily I have the opportunity to work with such diverse product ranges, projects, and people across the broad business and customer spectrum.

No day is ever the same and this something I relish; One day I could be in Co. Cork for a design meeting and next an overnight installation on a local rail network in NI!

2. What has been your career journey so far?
Shortly after achieving my 2.1 Bsc Honours degree in International Business Management, I joined the Cubis Internal Sales department on a temporary contract. Fast forward 9 years and promoted 2 levels within, I now hold my current position of Country Manager for Ireland within the Commercial Department.

Cubis have provided me with continuous opportunities over the years for Career & Personal Progression, backed with a powerful sense of unity and leadership along the way.

I was the first woman appointed within the Business Development UK & Ireland Team and this is something I am proud of. Every day I am supported, respected, and encouraged by my mentors: James, Seamus and Andy. Teamwork makes dreamwork and success is best when it's shared.

3. Describe yourself in 3 words.
Dedicated, Organised and Enthusiastic.

4. What is the 1 skill that helps you the most in your role?
Solutions focused: particularly important skill to have within a commercial discipline, being able to see multiple perspectives within any given situation.

5. Do you have any advice for your fellow Women in Construction?
Simply, be present and accounted for - never underestimate yourself or what you can achieve. Surround yourself with likeminded people who help bring a positive mindset. If you enjoy what you do, you will never have to work a day in your life!

6. Are there any exciting plans on the way for Cubis Systems?
One of the things that I love about my role is that there is always something new happening at Cubis. Between new product launches and different learning opportunities available, I never have the chance to become too comfortable and that is what I want for my career.

In general, we are making so many advances regarding entering new markets globally, focusing on sustainability, reducing Carbon footprint, streamlining our processes, and incorporating innovative technologies into the business.

Over the last 9 years that I have worked for Cubis, I have seen huge growth in the business across all platforms and what we have accomplished to date. I am excited to see what the future holds for the company within the overall Growth Plan.

For me and within my role, there have been numerous high-profile projects that I have been involved with over the last few years from a design specification aspect that are now starting to transpire, which is great to see. When you put the work in, results will come.

7. Who is an inspiration in your career?
My biggest and continuous inspiration is my beautiful Son Caelan, anything is achievable when you have this guy in your corner!

8. What is your favourite break time snack?
When on the road, I try my best to be healthy with the fruit option (Boring I know!). However, when at Cubis HQ in Lurgan there is always an endless supply of biscuits, cakes and sweets in the cupboard that are hard to ignore!

9. If you had to pick your soundtrack song to get you through the working day, what would it be?
Anything George Ezra related, particularly ‘Anyone for You’ which always provides good vibes particularly on long car journeys between appointments.

10. How can your fellow WIB members keep up to date with you and the team at Cubis Systems?
I would be a proactive & daily user of LinkedIn, this is where I share opportunities and exciting updates on my current projects, so please reach out and connect!
