Progressive Building Society continues to invest in female workforce
With women making up 10 out of their 11 Assistant Branch Managers (ABM), Progressive Building Society is proud to demonstrate its ongoing investment in their female workforce and commitment to gender parity throughout the company.

Julie O'Brien, Rachel Rogers, Lorna Craig, Danielle Murphy, Andrea Brown, Jane Steen, Denise McKinley, Catherine Moore, Karmen Barnes, and Irene Connor join fellow ABM Ryan Turner as 10 female leaders paving the way across the local branch network.

As part of Progressive’s ongoing recruitment drive, most of the female Assistant Branch Managers have been appointed in the past year.

Commenting Progressive’s Head of Human Resources, Ailsa McNeill, said: “At Progressive, we are committed to investing in the development of each of our employees. Our diversity and inclusion strategy is weaved into everything we do across the Society, and we’re delighted to see so many women take on leadership roles over the past 12 months. Of course, we’re particularly proud to have witnessed their progression over the years and will continue to support their ongoing career development as they expand their expertise within their new positions.”

With six of the ABMs completing the ILM leadership development through the Society before taking up their new posts, Progressive is delighted to see the positive results of the training and support provided internally.
“Employees are at the heart of Progressive and our ethos is to start investing in our staff as soon as they join the business,” continued Ailsa. “Most of the ABMs started out as Customer Service Assistants before climbing the ranks into Mortgage roles and ultimately being promoted to ABMs. Our flexible working culture and bespoke training and development programmes that are tailored to each individual allows us to create a working environment that ultimately brings out the very best in people.”

Progressive Building Society is also committed to the Women in Finance Charter, working with the HM Treasury to build a more balanced and fairer workforce.
