Seraphim Couture Bridal

When you are a child you have dreams and aspirations as to how you see your life panning out, but as age and maturity, bills and responsibilities set in, many of those dreams fall by the way-side. I dreamed from the age of five of creating beautiful couture for brides, but instead became a nurse. Nursing gave me grit and determination to carry on even through unpleasant situations, but my dreams plagued me for the next thirty years on my life.

A year on from opening Seraphim Couture Bridal, we have grown and developed the business to the extent that we are moving into fabulous new premises on Main St in Greyabbey, taking up the whole top floor of a Georgian building that dates back from 1840. At one time one of 26 pubs in this tiny village, from the beginning of April it’s magnificent cathedral ceilings and ancient stone interior walls will see a plethora of gorgeous couture wedding dresses from the likes of the winners of the UK Best Bridal Designer awards for the second year running, Eliza Jane Howell, and the sumptuously elegant designs of the fabulous Augusta Jones.

We are also in the process of developing and launching our own label, although this is a year or so away yet; we have a fabulous design room for our machines and cutting tables at the back of our new premises, looking over Rosemount Estate (The family seat of the plantation family, The Montgomerys) for inspiration for our designs.

The village is being referred to by many now as the Bridal Village as we have everything needed in the tiny space of 200yards, for a wedding, including an award winning reception venue (Orange Tree House). This small village on the Ards Peninsula is well worth a visit for its antique and curio shops, it’s ancient abbey and beautiful shoreline, as well as all the bridal businesses and much more is planned for this lovely place over the next few years.

To any of you ladies out there who have had a dream but not dared to pursue it….what’s the worst that can happen? Everything starts with a thought, and every thought takes you on a journey. A journey can lead you to the most interesting and surprising of places.

I wouldn’t trade what I’m doing now for anything in the world!

Be brave….go on
