Sarah Mackie and her husband Gavin moved back to Northern Ireland in 2007 and took on Larchfield Estate - a place of exceptional heritage and beauty, a family home and… a 600 acre loss-making farm. This year they celebrate their 10th anniversary of getting married, living at and running Larchfield as a multi award-winning wedding and corporate events business with onsite accommodation.

Sarah Mackie and her husband Gavin moved back to Northern Ireland in 2007 and took on Larchfield Estate - a place of exceptional heritage and beauty, a family home and… a 600 acre loss-making farm. This year they celebrate their 10^th anniversary of getting married, living at and running Larchfield as a multi award-winning wedding and corporate events business with onsite accommodation.

The company purpose sits behind all that they do – ‘to preserve the heritage that is Larchfield’ – and they have reinvested heavily restoring, adapting and improving facilities. Projects include:

- Gutting and reinstating now 5 star cottages for overnight accommodation

- Rebuilding stables burnt out in 1980s

- £200K Orangery entrance to Larchfield Barn

- Recobbling courtyards, building new carparking

- New storerooms & new toilet facilities (with the help of a Rural Development Grant)

- A recent internal facelift of venue to maintain high visual standard

Now hosting over 130 events a year, 2017 sees the launch of their luxury glamping truck with tow along sauna and a food forage cook course for corporate groups. They also plan to expand their accommodation offering onsite.

Sarah said; “Our membership of Women in Business has proved an invaluable networking tool as well as providing plentiful opportunities to learn new skills that aid both personal and company development."
