Sewing Classes by Magpie Belfast
Magpie Belfast’s basic sewing classes provide an opportunity to learn or improve your sewing skills without having to commit to classes for a long period of time, or learn within a large formal group.
Monday 18 June 2012
Classes are usually held in a comfortable domestic setting in East Belfast but can be brought to other venues as required. Class sizes are deliberately small – 4 people maximum to ensure that everyone gets enough attention. They are a great way to spend quality time with a group of friends or meet new people.
Basic Classes comprise four 2.5 hour sessions, cost from £45 pp, and are usually held in the evenings. Use of basic equipment and a modern sewing machine is included in this cost. You will be assisted in choosing and completing a simple project like curtains, roman blinds, cushion covers, a handbag…
A range of one-off sessions will be running over the summer to make simple projects, e.g. zipped purse; drawstring bag; applique cushion cover, table runner; baby bibs, etc. These classes will be held during the daytime or evenings, subject to interest, and will cost £12 - £15 pp.
Some testimonials from previous satisfied customers:
“Dear Shanti, I am thoroughly enjoying every aspect of the sewing classes. The group is a lovely size, and they are all lovely girls, which mean the classes are very relaxed. I am thrilled with the amount that I am getting done in the classes, and feel I would be able to go off myself and work away at similar projects to what I have been doing at class. It has given me a lot of confidence to go and create more things. But I still have a lot to learn! So I am hoping to be able to continue a fortnightly or monthly class…Thanks, Mary”

"I thoroughly enjoyed the sewing class and was thrilled with the bag I made in just a few weeks. The classes were fun, informative and inspiring. Shanti is a great teacher...full of enthusiasm and patience and there was plenty of opportunity for one-to-one attention. I would definitely attend another class and highly recommend it to others."

“Can I just say how much I've enjoyed the classes and your support and enthusiasm as a teacher has given me the confidence to try new sewing projects. Also I loved your top tips on where to source fabrics and supplies economically which I think is a must! You have a very welcoming home which also helps to promote learning in a relaxed setting! Will definitely recommend you to others.”
