Cherrie Stewart

Director & Chartered Trade Mark Attorney at MacLachlan IP

Cherrie knew nothing about Intellectual Property (IP), but when she started a temporary position in MacLachlan IP (formerly Ansons) as an Administrative Assistant in 1998 but soon realised that IP is woven into every aspect of work, home, leisure, sport, music, and more. When she was offered a permanent position, she leapt at the chance to learn more about this essential subject. Cherrie was offered the chance to train as a Trade Mark Attorney and the rest, as they say, is history. This year she celebrates her 28th year of working in the field of IP and suffice to say, she knows a bit more about IP now, than when she started. With a particular passion for educating businesses about the importance of IP in general, i.e. trade marks, patents, copyright, design, etc., and in helping new starts. In her day-to-day role, Cherrie advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in the UK, Ireland, Europe and internationally, helping businesses protect those signs which serve to identify their brands.
