Katie is a multi-award-winning entrepreneur, educator, speaker, trauma-informed practitioner and global mental health trainer. Katie has 14 years lived/living experience with mental illness, with eclectic passions including supporting other’s mental health, inclusive entrepreneurship, female leadership, community development, growth mindset development and supporting young people. She has founded four businesses and two voluntary organisations, is an Independent Member of the ABC Area Policing Community Safety Partnership and the Northern Ireland National Director for the Global Entrepreneurship Network. She was honoured to be listed on Belfast Telegraph’s NI 30 Under 30 List 2022, the Diverse In’s “130 Women who Break the Bias” List 2022 and the f:entrepreneur UK Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs List 2022.
Katie graduated from Queens University and joined the Graduate programme at Kainos over 5 years ago. She is now a Product Technical Consultant at Kainos and has a passion for helping others, not only in the role but through raising money for various charities. Katie wants to lead the way for other women to consider a career in tech by breaking the stereotypes and encouraging others to get involved in networking opportunities to connect, inspire and empower each other to rise higher together.
Emma Murphy graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2021 with First Class Honours in English Literature. She spent two years working in Queen’s Students’ Union, firstly as Education Officer and then as President. Her campaigning focused on the Cost of Living for students, and she gained investment of £7.6 million in payments for staff and students, as well as over 5,000 free breakfasts and the introduction of a Pantry providing free food to students. She is a Graduate Intern in Queen’s University Belfast, working with the Public Engagement and Communications teams. She is currently working closely with the Business Engagement team as they engage the local business community and host events such as TEDxQueensUniversityBelfast.
