Northern Irish indoor wooden climbing frame maker Sawdust and Rainbows announces partnership with Just One Tree.

 

Sawdust and Rainbows will now plant a tree for every sale of their most popular toddler products, including the Pikler inspired Wee’Un triangle, slide and Finn the giant hump to name a few. The first month of this new partnership sees 332 trees planted.

 

Just One Tree funds reforestation organisations around the globe, focussing on areas severely affected by mass deforestation. Every £1 contribution to Just One Tree enables the charity to plant a tree. Sawdust and Rainbows first contribution will absorb 4 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year from the atmosphere.

 

Partnering with Just One Tree is part of a wider ethical and sustainability strategy across the business. Managing Director, Rosie Hughes explains more: “we’re so excited to be able to continue our focus on doing right by our people and the planet and our aim is to plant 5,000 trees in the next twelve months”.

 

Rosie continued: “A few months back we confirmed our commitment to paying a decent wage by joining the Living Wage Foundation and made it a requirement that our stockists do the same. Over a year ago we went flat pack across all our frames and accessories and are continuously adjusting throughout the production process to reduce our carbon footprint and eliminate waste. We only use FSC and PEFC wood and any off cuts we do have are now being used by a local community art group. We only use recycled paper packaging and use carbon neutral delivery where possible. We hope that each little step can help make a difference to the next generation”.
