Kelly Frizzell is the first women to win the Apprentice of the Year award at the recent NIE Networks’ achievement event that celebrates inspirational apprentices, training instructors and employees.
Kelly Frizzell, a surveying apprentice and Emma Anderson, an overhead lines apprentice, scooped two of the top awards at the event, with Kelly winning the coveted Apprentice of the Year award and Emma picking up ‘The Best Apprentice Journey’ award.
The Apprentice of the Year award recognises an individual who has gone that extra mile and who has role model status. The Best Apprentice Journey award recognises an individual who has overcome challenges and is now an exemplary apprentice.
Raymond McMenemy, NIE Networks Technical Training Manager, said: “This is a great event that celebrates the outstanding achievements of our employees. I’d like to congratulate everyone who was nominated and received awards, especially both Kelly and Emma who fully deserve this recognition.”
Speaking at the Awards ceremony Kelly said: “I really wasn’t expecting to win anything today never mind the Apprentice of the Year award. It means a lot to me and I’m absolutely delighted. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship at NIE Networks and would recommend it as a career route for anyone to consider.”
Emma added: “To win an award today was a total shock. It’s nice to be recognised for the hard work I’ve put in to my apprenticeship.”
