Sparkling Performance New member, 24 year old Rebekah Patterson from East Belfast, has been shortlisted for an inaugural Women in Business Award. Her business success, which has come at such a young age by selling an exclusive range of costume jewellery called Miglio, has even sparked the interest of top-selling women's magazine, Cosmopolitan. We get behind the headlines to find out how she does it...

Rebekah Patterson was just 19 when she established a direct selling business for Miglio jewellery in Northern Ireland. By 22 she had already been awarded the UK Direct Selling Association's 'Best New Direct Seller' title, competing with household brands such as Avon, to become the youngest-ever recipient of the award.

In spite of one of the worst economic recessions in modern history and aged now just 24, she is one of the most successful self-employed Miglio consultants in the world. During the past five years she has also recruited and developed a very successful team of other self-employed, part-time consultants in Northern Ireland, which has now become one of the most successful regions for Miglio in the world.

Her success is remarkable given she started from scratch without the usual infrastructure of an established business behind her. When she left school she took a Marketing course and decided to work for herself. She always had an interest in jewellery and once she had identified the opportunity for Miglio, she worked hard to develop her customer base and alternative ways to reach it including jewellery parties, fundraising events, trade fairs as well as online.

Rebekah's home studio is the focal point for seasonal launches where valued customers are invited to view the latest collections in a relaxed, social environment. Rebekah has been careful to create the right ambiance where guests can have fun trying on pieces, or mixing and matching items over some refreshments with no pressure to buy.

"The jewellery in many ways sells itself because it's so versatile and very collectable. The designs allow you to express your own style by switching chains with enhancers, convert bracelets into necklaces, altering necklace lengths, and stacking rings together. The combinations are endless." explains Rebekah.

Rebekah is always willing to hear from other high achievers who are interested in the flexible business opportunity of direct selling. To find out more about Miglio or to enquire about becoming a Miglio consultant visit http://www.rebekah.mymiglio.com/about/
