WIB member, Sinéad Mc Dermott of The Art and Design Factory awarded ‘Arts Personality of the Year’

Women in Business member Sinéad Mc Dermott of The Art and Design Factory Ltd has been awarded ‘Arts Personality of the Year’ sponsored by Kildare Village at the Ulster Tatler awards ceremony in St. Anne’s Cathedral on the 8th of September 2022.
The Ulster Tatler awards, now in its fifteenth year honours the achievements of local individuals and businesses. Chris Sherry Ulster Tatler editor said “ The difficulty in choosing just one deserved winner seems to become greater every year and that speaks volumes on just how high the standard is across the province. Every single category was bursting with worthy nominees."
The judges awarded Sinead ‘Arts Personality of the Year’ because they felt during such a time when the art sector was being so negatively impacted Sinead was proactive in providing a mindful approach to encourage future generations to keep arts education in the classroom.
Sinead has created a digital, educational resource that enables primary school teachers to share her pre-recorded lessons in their classrooms at the click of a button.  With 40 art lessons to chose from, all the lessons have been created with the curriculum front and centre with embedded cross curricular links delivered by a specialist art teacher with 23 years experience.

Research has proven the arts develop neural systems that produce a broad spectrum of benefits ranging from fine motor skills, to creativity and improved emotional balance.
Sinead shared that "My art portal is a revolutionary concept which gives not only schools access to numerous art lessons at the click of a button but also enables pupils to express their unique personalities and creativity plus reduces the pressure and workload of teachers. My art lessons over lock down impacted so many children’s lives as one mother shared that her daughter was extremely anxious and wasn’t sleeping yet the days her daughter took my art lessons she slept the whole night through. Art heals and helps all ages to relax and unwind and is similar to meditation."
She also added that "It's forecast that the creative industries are to grow to £128 billion by 2025 and will generate one million new creative jobs by 2030. So let’s help future generations by equipping them with the skills needed to ensure they gain employment in this growing sector."
