Tell us about your role and your organisation.
I founded Promptly Human to help purpose‑driven people and organisations get started with AI. As an experienced writer and translator, I understand the power of language, and through Promptly Human I provide training on how to craft strong, effective prompts that deliver real results.
AI is here to stay, but it’s essential that we don’t lose our voice or values in the process. I offer training and resources focused on maintaining a human tone when using AI for writing—including accessibility, localisation, inclusivity, and tone‑of‑voice checks to ensure content is appropriate, compliant, and aligned with your audience.
I also create bespoke prompt packs and custom AI assistants tailored to an organisation’s needs.
Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far.
After studying languages at the University of Glasgow, I completed an MA in Translation at Queen’s University Belfast and then worked for around ten years as a self‑employed translator. I translated French and Spanish documents into English across a variety of fields including technology, business, and human rights.
After having my first son, I sought a change of pace and moved into technical writing with a Belfast‑based company, where I’ve learned a great deal—particularly about AI in recent years.
Now, I’m combining my linguistic background and technological experience to help purpose‑driven people and organisations benefit from AI, without sacrificing their unique voice or values.
What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?
I excel at taking complex or sensitive topics and breaking them down into clear, relatable, and useful content for new audiences.
What advice do you have for women in your sector?
“Life is what you say it is.”Don’t get bogged down by setbacks or negative experiences—focus on the positives. There are so many opportunities and genuinely good people out there who want to help you succeed.
Any exciting plans for your organisation in the year ahead?
I’m excited to grow Promptly Human and begin offering a wider range of training sessions and resources.
Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?
Any working mum who is building something of her own. The juggle is real, and so many of us are doing our best to create the life we want for our children while pursuing meaningful work.
Your soundtrack song to get you through the working day?
Ye Vagabonds – “Lowlands of Holland.”Their music always makes me feel happy and relaxed.
