60 Seconds with Jordan McAdam
Meet Jordan McAdam, founder of JMC Consulting, Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and Associate of the London College of Music (ALCM) for Speech and Drama.

Tell us about your role and your organisation.
I am deeply passionate about helping businesses create workplaces where people genuinely enjoy what they do. After spending over 15 years in the corporate world, I saw firsthand how many organisations could do so much more to engage, motivate, and retain their people. JMC Consulting was born from that realisation — and from a desire to help businesses build thriving cultures where employees feel valued, connected, and inspired to perform at their best. I believe that when businesses invest in engagement, they don’t just improve retention — they unlock potential, strengthen performance, and create teams that truly buy into the company vision.

Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far.
I spent over 10 years in recruitment, working with global organisations across the world. When I started coaching in 2020, I wanted individuals to feel supported in their career transition journey. I support in areas such as CV writing, skills deep dive, LinkedIn profile optimisation, and interview skills.
More recently, I realise that people leave organisations, not always for the right reasons. I want to support people to love the work they do, which means supporting organisations to be a better place to work, and helping individuals in their career journeys.

What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?
Active listening and communication - Active listening means truly understanding what that individual might be saying and helping them to choose the right path, or communicating this with the organisation to offer improvement strategies. I am a qualified Speech and Drama tutor, which helps communication with individuals at all different stages in their careers.

What advice do you have for women in your industry?
This year, I have tried to be more active in my networking. I think a real benefit is meeting new people and 'never saying no to a meeting'

Are there any exciting plans in the year ahead for your organisation?
I want to expand JMC Consulting to work with more small - medium-sized organisations, up to 250/300 employees, to support them to have more engaged and motivated staff and ultimately be a more profitable business.

Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?
My dad, who has a jewellery shop for most of his career. Although a product-based business, I have learned a lot from him. He is resilient, hard-working, motivated and happy. He has brought the business through periods of change, and always has a smile.

If you had to pick your soundtrack song to get you through the working day, what would it be?
The first thing that came to mind was "You're a Superstar" by Love Inc.
We are all superstars in our own right and should hold our heads up high!
