60 seconds with Louise Keenan Clarke | Succeed with Confidence

Tell us about your role and your organisation:

I am the founder and director of Succeed with Confidence, an organisation that empowers mid and senior professional women, as well as dynamic female entrepreneurs, to elevate their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. My mission is to help women become confident communicators who lead with clarity, authority, and impact.

Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far:

Over the past 21 years, I have held global leadership roles within some of the world’s top corporate and investment banks, where I built and led diverse, high-performing teams.

In parallel, I have spent 25 years coaching private clients in communication and public speaking. This unique dual experience made it clear to me how vital it is for professionals and entrepreneurs to effectively communicate their value to key stakeholders in order to excel.

That insight led me to establish Succeed with Confidence, where I deliver development programmes for business and public service organisations, as well as coaching individuals and groups.

What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?

The skill that helps me most is my genuine love of speaking to and learning from people. I enjoy connecting with others, understanding how I can support them, and bringing those goals to life.

In terms of public speaking, it’s always been second nature to me — my mother had me reciting poems on stage at the age of three, and she encouraged me to earn my Speech & Drama Teacher's Diploma while still at university. I could speak to an audience before I could ride a bike! Now, I love helping others find the same confidence and joy in communication.

What advice do you have for women in your industry?

One of my favourite quotes is from Henry Ford:

"Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right."

My advice is to harness the power of mindset. Believing in your ability to communicate with confidence is the foundation of professional success. Trust yourself — you may find it easier than you ever expected.

Are there any exciting plans in the year ahead for your organisation?

Yes! I’m excited to deliver new development programmes to some inspiring organisations and individuals.

I’m also passionate about continuing to raise awareness of the critical role confident communication plays in business success.

Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?

My greatest inspiration comes from my family.

  • My father has worked in our family business for over 60 years and is still going strong at 75.
  • One of my grandmothers managed a farm and raised a large family as a young widow — an incredible feat of leadership and resilience.
  • My other grandmother ran small businesses as a young woman and later became a top saleswoman for a global company. She was flown to the U.S. in her 60s to teach younger salesmen — a story that always brings a smile to my face.

I deeply admire people who use their talents to succeed and inspire others along the way.
