Tell us about your role and your organisation
As a Marketing Manager at Innovate UK Business Connect, I lead strategic, multi-channel marketing campaigns for large, government-funded innovation programmes. My work focuses on driving visibility, engagement, and meaningful impact across industry, academia, and the public sector.
I manage end-to-end campaign strategy, optimise performance through data-led insights, and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders. My role also includes leading marketing for flagship national innovation events, overseeing cross-functional teams and agencies, and ensuring every campaign aligns with programme objectives and organisational KPIs.

Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far
I’m a strategic marketing professional with experience across content, digital and performance marketing, with a growing track record in delivering large-scale, government-funded innovation campaigns. After completing my MSc in Marketing at Queen’s University Belfast in 2021, I began my career in both B2B and B2C roles before moving into innovation-focused programme marketing at Innovate UK Business Connect.
Today, I lead multi-channel campaigns and flagship event marketing across sectors including net zero, materials and manufacturing. In 2022, I also founded my freelance social media management business, Marketing with Megs, which has strengthened my hands-on experience in brand building, audience growth and customer-first storytelling - complementing my strategic and data-driven approach.
What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?
Being personable is one of the biggest strengths I bring to my role. It helps me build strong, trusted relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders - something that is essential when delivering complex, multi-channel campaigns. Being approachable and collaborative ensures everyone feels heard, which ultimately leads to smoother delivery and better outcomes.
What advice do you have for women in your industry?
Say yes to opportunities, even when they feel slightly outside your comfort zone. While in education, get involved in university clubs, societies or voluntary roles - these experiences build skills you won’t learn in the classroom. Stay open to learning, networking and trying new things; often, it’s these experiences that open unexpected doors and shape your career path.
Are there any exciting plans in the year ahead for your organisation?
We’re currently going through a company restructure, which will bring new ways of working and fresh opportunities. It’s a whole new experience beginning in April, and I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead.
Your soundtrack song to get you through the working day
Definitely something fun and upbeat - cheesy pop, musical theatre, or Sabrina Carpenter. A good sing‑along always boosts the mood and keeps the positive energy flowing throughout the workday!
How can our members best connect with you?
The best way to connect is via LinkedIn. I’m always happy to chat about marketing, events, innovation, net-zero projects, freelance social media marketing or content creation. I love meeting new people and connecting with like-minded professionals.
