Claire Clerkin, Director of Wellbeing at Wiser Working
Hi, I'm Claire. I am passionate about health and wellbeing and that encompasses everything I am privileged to do as my work.

I am the Director of Wellbeing at Wiser Working, a boutique consultancy that helps busy leaders across the UK and Ireland to perform better under pressure. We do this through providing resilience and wellbeing training to organisations.

As a certified Nutritional Therapist with over 10 years’ experience and having worked with hundreds of 1:1 clients, I realised that many of their health issues were underpinned by stress (often work related). This led to the creation of Wiser Working, alongside my husband who worked in leadership development with stressed out executives.

In the last few years, in addition to moving some of our training online, we launched Wiser Wellness where we aim to integrate the principles of functional medicine into the traditional corporate training and wellbeing sector. This includes programmes focusing on menopause, energy management, and digital balance.

We are just about to launch our Wellbeing Champions training programme for SMEs and the 3rd sector, which I am particularly excited about! This is an open programme where organisations can nominate employees who are passionate about creating a wellbeing culture. It is the only programme of its kind in Northern Ireland.

Smaller organisations don’t always have the budget for full-time wellbeing managers so having volunteer Wellbeing Champions may be a more pragmatic approach to furthering the wellbeing agenda. Having always worked in smaller organisations, I know that their staff work just as hard as those in bigger companies and need wellbeing support more than ever.

Having dealt with two work-related burnouts, I know the pressure that women (and men) in business can put on themselves, often at the expense of their own health! This drives me to keep doing what I do.

I feel incredibly lucky that through my portfolio of work pursuits, I can support individuals to optimise their health, as well as work with organisations to create positive cultures of wellbeing.
