Tell us about your role and your organisation.
I am the Founder of Revitalise Plus, a nurse-led health and wellbeing clinic based in Comber, Northern Ireland. As a Registered Nurse, Independent Nurse Prescriber and Specialist Practitioner with more than 20 years of healthcare experience, I am passionate about helping people take a proactive approach to their health.
Revitalise Plus offers preventative health screening, weight management programmes, wellness blood testing panels, IV nutrition therapy and aesthetic treatments. My goal is to empower individuals to better understand their health, make informed decisions and improve their long-term wellbeing through personalised, evidence-based, non-judgemental care. I believe prevention and early intervention play a vital role in achieving better health outcomes and helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far.
I have been a registered nurse for over 20 years, working across a wide range of healthcare settings within both the NHS and the private sector. My career has included medical and surgical nursing, emergency care, community nursing and district nursing, providing me with extensive experience caring for people with diverse healthcare needs.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to professional development, achieving both my Specialist Practitioner Qualification in District Nursing and my Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification. These advanced qualifications have enabled me to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care and support patients in making informed decisions about their health.
Founding Revitalise Plus is the culmination of my experience, knowledge and passion for preventative healthcare. Through the business, I aim to help people gain a clearer understanding of their health and wellbeing, empowering them to take positive steps towards long-term wellness.
What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?
The skill that has helped me most throughout my career is the ability to build genuine relationships with people. Whether working in the NHS, the private sector or now through Revitalise Plus, I believe the best outcomes are achieved when people feel listened to, respected and actively involved in decisions about their health.
Creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable asking questions and discussing their concerns helps build trust and confidence. Strong relationships not only improve communication but also enable people to make informed decisions and feel empowered in their healthcare journey.
What advice do you have for women in your sector/industry/type of role?
My advice to women in healthcare is to believe in your skills, experience and the value you bring. We often spend so much time caring for others that we forget to invest in ourselves. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, embrace new opportunities and continue developing your knowledge and expertise.
Building a career or business takes courage, resilience and persistence. There will be challenges along the way, but surrounding yourself with people who support and encourage you can make all the difference. Celebrate every milestone, no matter how small, and remember that progress is always more important than perfection. Every step forward brings you closer to where you want to be.
Are there any exciting plans in the year ahead in your organisation that you can share with us?
As a new business, this is an exciting stage for Revitalise Plus. Over the coming year, I will be focused on expanding our preventative health services, growing our weight management and wellness programmes, and introducing innovative health assessment packages that provide clients with a more comprehensive picture of their overall health.
I am also looking forward to developing partnerships within the local community and continuing to build a trusted, nurse-led service that empowers people to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?
Rather than one individual, my greatest inspiration has come from the experienced nurses and mentors I have worked alongside throughout my career. They demonstrated that exceptional healthcare is about much more than clinical knowledge; it is about compassion, professionalism and ensuring every person feels heard and valued.
Their example encouraged me to continue developing my skills, achieve my Specialist Practitioner and Independent Nurse Prescriber qualifications, and ultimately gave me the confidence to establish Revitalise Plus. Their dedication to patient care continues to inspire me every day.
If you had to pick your soundtrack song to get you through the working day, what would it be?
"Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. It's impossible not to smile when it comes on. The song gives me a boost of energy, motivation and positivity, reminding me to enjoy the journey while working towards my goals.
