Citi Belfast Announce Marie Curie as Charity of The Year for 2023

Citi Belfast has announced that, following a business-wide vote by staff, they have chosen Marie Curie as their charity of the year. The charity will not receive dedicated support from over 3,700 colleagues across the Citi Belfast locations over the next year as they engage in fundraising activities, awareness events and volunteering to benefit Marie Curie.

Marie Curie Nurses are beacons of hope for people living with a terminal illness and their families across the UK. Now more than ever Marie Curie Nurses and frontline staff are needed to provide vital care, expertise and compassion to dying people and their families, in their homes and hospices across the UK. Their services such as the Support Line and Check In and Chat have also helped people who are struggling with any aspect relating to terminal illness.

Commenting on the impact of this partnership for Marie Curie, Conor O'Kane, Marie Curie Senior Partnership Manager, commented, "
We are absolutely delighted that Citi Belfast have selected Marie Curie as their Charity of the Year for 2023. We look forward to working with the whole staff team in what promises to be an exciting year of fundraising and volunteering. The support of Citi Belfast will provide around 3,000 community nursing hours. Together we can make a real and positive impact in the lives of people across Northern Ireland by providing end of life quality care that everyone deserves.”

Lauren McCoy, Citi Belfast CSR Committee Chair, said, “At Citi Belfast, we pride ourselves in doing all we can to help our community. Our staff are involved in the entire process of ‘Charity of the Year’ selection, everyone is invited to make charity nominations within our annual category and then vote on the shortlisted organisations that reflect our company ethos and values. This year we are supporting those living with cancer and we are delighted to announce Marie Curie as the successful charity who will be our charity partner throughout 2023.

“Marie Curie is the largest charitable provider of end-of-life care in Northern Ireland. They provide home-based nursing across all of Northern Ireland, along with palliative care services and bereavement counselling (Including their Belfast Hospice) in the greater Belfast area. They tirelessly campaign for a world where everyone gets to lead the best life they can right to the end.  It is a charity we are extremely proud to support and hope to raise funds to enable their Rapid Response Service to reach another 1,200 people living with terminal cancer.

“We are looking forward to working with the Marie Curie team to create a calendar of volunteer and fundraising opportunities for our staff to support their efforts throughout the year ahead.”
