Young Women's Network member represents QUB at the Santander X Entrepreneurship Awards

Last month, recent MEng Engineering Graduate, Naomi McGregor, competed in the annual Santander X Entrepreneurship Awards as the selected representative of Queen’s University Belfast.
She travelled with a representative from QUB Enterprise SU to London, where she pitched over 2 days at Wembley Stadium in the hopes of securing £50,000 equity-free seed funding as well as £75,000 worth of business development support for her startup, Movetru. A graduate product-design engineer and seasoned ballerina, Naomi has developed a product that will enable athletes and coaches to hasten recovery time from injury as well as decreasing the chances of injury occurring in the first place.
After a competitive application process and intensive preparatory programme led by Santander X, Naomi was able to secure her place in the quarter finals of the competition to take place in October 2021 from Wembley Stadium. After an intensive morning of pitching on the 5th of October, Naomi was successful in making it through to the Semi-Final round of the competition. However, despite being impressed with her standard of pitching and business concept, the judges did not award her a place in the Finals where the Top 5 student startups in the UK would pitch to become Santander X Entrepreneurship Champion.
Naomi has reflected on the competition calling it an “incredible experience” and an “honour” to represent Queen’s University, with a special thanks to QUB Enterprise SU team for their support throughout her startup journey.
Naomi has travelled back to London to attend ‘Reverse Investor Pitching.’ The staff and students at QUB and the startup community of Northern Ireland are all behind Naomi as she continues to secure the funding necessary to develop her business and make her dreams a reality!
