60 Seconds with Andrea Herron

Tell us about your role and your organisation

I am the Marketing Director and Co-Founder of Wild Hawk, a company specialising in innovative, interactive advertising solutions.

Our Digital Ad Walkers bring a human element to out-of-home advertising, creating engaging experiential marketing opportunities. Equipped with smart audience analysis technology, our screens can report on impressions, views, viewing duration, age, gender and sentiment. They are also fully Wi-Fi and touchscreen enabled.

We have developed a strong niche within the events sector, particularly at out-of-stadia events where connectivity and information access can often be challenging. By combining advertiser content with event updates, routes, results and other useful information, we create valuable experiences for visitors while delivering exceptional engagement for brands.

Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far

I began my career in photography before moving to London to work in an advertising agency specialising in the education sector. I then spent 10 years working in the voluntary sector, focusing on outdoor and sports marketing.

Since launching Wild Hawk six years ago, I have worked with some of the world's leading drinks and snack brands, delivering everything from integrated marketing campaigns to large-scale events.

More recently, I have led the development of our Digital Ad Walker service with audience intelligence capabilities. This is an area I am particularly excited about, and we are already working towards the next phase of its evolution.

What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?

The ability to identify commercial opportunities.

In a constantly evolving digital landscape, it is important to stay informed about technological advances. However, what truly drives growth is understanding how those advances can create value for customers and open up new commercial opportunities.

What advice do you have for women in your industry?

It is a highly competitive industry, so it is important to find your niche and own it rather than trying to replicate what others are doing.

Lean into what you are passionate about and take time to understand why you are doing something, who you are trying to reach and what value you bring to their business. The clearer you are on that, the greater the opportunity to stand out.

Are there any exciting plans in the year ahead in your organisation that you can share with us?

Yes. We are currently developing Hawk Eye Interactive Zones for events, creating unique, interactive and tailored spaces that engage spectators while improving the flow of information.

These zones are designed to bring innovative screen technology to events that may not traditionally have access to large-scale digital displays, enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?

My biggest inspiration has been my mum.

While raising two children and caring for my uncle, who lived with us, she also built a successful career and owned two businesses. She showed me what resilience looks like and demonstrated how it is possible to balance family life, business and professional ambitions, even during challenging economic times.

What's the best way for our members to connect with you?

Members can connect with me on LinkedIn, via WhatsApp on 07707 684274, or by email at andrea@bewildhawk.com.

If calling by phone, please leave a voicemail or send a text message, as my number is publicly available and I receive a high volume of spam calls.

How has your membership with Women in Business helped you in your career?

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a member of Women in Business and have benefited greatly from the networking opportunities available.

The events have allowed me to connect with highly motivated and inspiring women, build valuable relationships and become part of a supportive professional community.
