60 Seconds with Connie Doyle

Tell us about your role and your organisation

I am the founder of BrightLine, a business consultancy created from my own experience of working within growing organisations.

I’ve seen first‑hand how businesses can move from being clear and focused to feeling busy, reactive, and harder to manage as they grow. That turning point—when things are going well but no longer feel straightforward—is where BrightLine supports business owners best.

I work closely with business owners and leadership teams to step back from the day‑to‑day and regain clarity. Together, we focus on four key questions: who they are, where they are now, where they want to go, and how they’ll get there. I then help turn that clarity into practical, actionable plans.

With a background in engineering, manufacturing, operations, finance, and leadership, my approach is hands‑on and grounded in real experience. BrightLine exists to help businesses move forward with direction, confidence, and control.

Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far

I began my career in an administrative role within engineering and manufacturing, but I was always curious about how the wider business worked. That curiosity led me to gain experience across sales, finance, operations, and planning.

I later progressed into a General Manager role within a growing manufacturing business, where I led across multiple functions in a fast‑paced environment. More recently, I moved into a business support role within retail, broadening my perspective further—particularly in supply chain and commercial operations.

Alongside this, I have been building BrightLine, shaped by my own experiences and my passion for helping businesses bring clarity and structure as they grow.

What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?

Resourceful problem solving is one of the most valuable skills I bring.

Growing businesses face complex challenges that rarely sit in one area or have clear solutions. My approach is to step back, understand the root cause, and find practical ways forward using the resources already available.

It’s about asking the right questions, thinking creatively, and focusing on solutions that work in the real world—not theory.

What advice do you have for women in your sector?

One key piece of advice is to keep a clear separation between the business and the personal. Healthy challenge and differing perspectives are natural in growing organisations and often lead to better decisions when handled well.

I also believe strongly in self‑reflection. Every experience—good or bad—is a chance to learn and grow.

Most importantly, don’t feel tied to one path. You are always allowed to change direction and redefine success.

Are there any exciting plans in the year ahead in your organisation that you can share with us?

This year marks the launch of BrightLine Ltd, which makes it an exciting time.

My focus is on building strong foundations—working with a select number of businesses, refining my approach, and developing practical frameworks that help businesses move from reactive day‑to‑day operations to structured, confident growth.

I’ll also be sharing insights through content, making strategic thinking more accessible for growing businesses.

Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?

Steven Bartlett has been a key inspiration for me.

I admire his calm, reflective leadership style and his openness to learning. In a world where business can feel reactive, his thoughtful and values‑driven approach strongly aligns with how I work with clients and how I’m building BrightLine.

If you had to pick your soundtrack song to get you through the working day, what would it be?

“Starry Night (Act 3)” by Ren

It’s reflective but progressive—very much how I like to approach my work.
