Describe how your membership with Women in Business has helped you in your career

Being part of Women in Business NI has provided practical training, supportive networking opportunities and the confidence to grow and shape my business.

Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far

My career began in nursing and evolved into a specialist focus on women's health and menopause support. Over time, I gained qualifications in reflexology, aromatherapy, coaching and education to broaden the ways I support wellbeing. A key turning point was training in CBT for menopause symptoms, enabling me to offer evidence-based support for hot flushes and night sweats. Today, through Aroma Therapie Suite, I combine clinical expertise, education and complementary therapies to support women in a calm, professional setting across clinics, communities and workplaces.

What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?

My strongest skill is communication. A genuine, down-to-earth approach helps me build trust and support women to navigate menopause using clear, evidence-based tools and practical guidance.

What advice do you have for women in your sector, industry or role?

Back yourself and don't be afraid to grow into new areas as your experience grows. Stay open to learning, keep things simple and always lead with kindness. Listening well and offering practical, honest support makes more difference than trying to be perfect.

Are there any exciting plans in the year ahead that you can share with us?

This year I'll be delivering menopause CBT for hot flushes and night sweats through one-to-one sessions and small groups in my studio, with plans to expand into larger community and workplace workshops across Northern Ireland. This evidence-based, non-pharmacological approach gives women practical tools to better manage their symptoms.

Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?

Maya Angelou has been a major inspiration. Her belief that we are meant not merely to survive but to thrive reflects my own journey from nursing into holistic menopause care. After experiencing problematic perimenopause symptoms myself during COVID, I became passionate about helping women find evidence-based support while also embracing wellbeing and self-renewal. Through my work, I aim to show women that menopause is not an ending, but an opportunity to thrive with clarity, dignity and confidence.

If you had to pick your soundtrack song to get you through the working day, what would it be?

Unstoppable by Sia. The song's energy and message of resilience remind me that our experiences can become our greatest strengths, and it inspires me both in my work and in supporting other women through their own transitions.
