60 Seconds with Judith Shevlin

Tell us about your role and your organisation

I am the founder and principal coach at Mindful Coaching — and also the marketing team, finance team, and everything in between! Mindful Coaching focuses on Resilience and Wellbeing Coaching for individuals, teams and organisations. I provide 1-1 coaching, team coaching, and deliver training and information sessions on wellbeing, stress management, self‑care, and how to build habits that stick.

My work is fully hybrid, so I’m happy to support clients in person or virtually.

Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far

I’ve been a Mental Health Practitioner for just over 15 years, working across a range of areas and specialisms. I loved my work, but ultimately stepped away from a full‑time “safe” job to pursue something more aligned with my values and that supported my young family and my own wellbeing.

Becoming a coach was a natural and obvious next step — it allows me to use all my experience, knowledge and skills to support and champion others. I’m grateful to be entering 2026 doing what I love.

What is one skill that helps you most in your role and why?

Listening! My role is centred around listening to understand — not just to respond. It’s a skill that has been deeply shaped and strengthened during my 15 years in Mental Health. At the end of the day, people want space to be heard, and creating that space is at the heart of my work.

What advice do you have for women in your industry?

For anyone in the Coaching Profession, my biggest piece of advice is: look after you. We spend so much of our time empowering and uplifting others — make sure you’re giving yourself the same energy and care.

Ethical practice is also important to me, so regular supervision has been invaluable in supporting my work.

Are there any exciting plans ahead for your organisation?

Yes! I have several upcoming workshops focused on Resilience and Wellbeing. I’m also partnering with a Health Care Team to deliver wellbeing and stress‑management coaching, both 1-1 and with teams. My hope is to continue expanding this type of work throughout 2026.

Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?

This one really made me think! Throughout my career, I’ve learned just as much from people I didn’t want to emulate as I have from those I admired.

The qualities I value most — and have been inspired by — include kindness, patience, honesty (even when it’s tough), and the ability to mentor others.

If you had to pick a soundtrack song to get you through the day, what would it be?

Choosing just one is impossible! But Spotify tells me my most‑played genre is Mellow Rock Mix, with plenty of noughties Brit pop.
