Tell us about Belfast Met and your role within!

Belfast Met is one of the largest FE colleges in the UK, employing 1000 people and serving and supporting over 12,000 learners and multiple local businesses. I am honoured to be Belfast Met’s Principal and CEO

What has been your career journey so far?

A culture hopper, who has worked in all three sectors across these islands. I started in the private sector in Manchester and London, followed by 10 glorious years in the not for profit sector working north and south in Ireland; a long stint as a senior civil servant with a career break back to the voluntary sector half way through and then off to my dream job at Belfast Met

Empathy

Do you have any advice for your fellow Women in Wider Civic Society?

Change your bit of the world for the better and encourage others, always

Are there any exciting plans on the way for Belfast Met?

Following the success of our first ever Virtual Open Day in January, we are excited to host our first ever Higher Education Week in May. If you missed our Virtual Open Day you can catch up here

Who is an inspiration in your career?

My mother. A talent on the stage, in school administration and the heart of our family. A natural psychologist whose varied career and grace in embracing new challenges remain an inspiration.

What’s your favourite break time snack?

A banana or 85% dark chocolate and a decent coffee….or all three!

If you had to pick your soundtrack song to get you through the working day, what would it be?
