Involved in the photography industry since 2006, Sharon Cosgrove credits her parents for always encouraging her to be creative and for nurturing those skills from a very young age.
A particular influence came from her Dad’s interest in videography that helped spark her own curiosity in camera’s. Little did she know this would set her on the career path to becoming a full time professional photographer. Always artistic & imaginative, Sharon attended the Ulster University Belfast graduating with a 1st in Visual Communications in 2001 (the only girl in her class to achieve a 1st!) and as she focused on photography in her final year, this only fueled her passion.
It was therefore a natural progression for Sharon to begin her career starting her professional photography journey working with leading portrait brand Venture Studios in Belfast. The six years working with Venture were her “salad days”, photographing babies, families & precious pets! She credits this time to honing her photography skills.
Not long after, Sharon was starting to make a name shooting jewellery and other products which she describes as “A very different set of skills required altogether and challenging to say the least!” but she rose to the challenge. She has worked with Argento since 2012, shooting their new product ranges & as she confesses to being “a real foodie” she has also relished the increase in the number of food & drink clients over the last number of years & boasts Dale Farm, The Edible Flower Catering Company & Papa’s Mineral Company as just some of her clients.
According to Sharon, “cooking has always been a release for me both after a long day and as a creative outlet. To bring these two worlds together seemed right and I truly love what I do”. She admittedly has “an obsession with all things food related”, and she confesses that she seeks every opportunity to dive into the culinary world and shoot it from every angle! So what’s the goal for 2020?
Sharon naturally wants to continue to work with her fantastic clients but also has a dream to collaborate on a cook book so do get in touch if your plan is to write one! Contact Sharon via:
