When I left life in finance in London to set up my photography business in 2017, I also moved back to Northern Ireland. Having built a life and career in London for over a decade I came home with a new business and an almost non-existent network.
I wanted to start getting out to meet people so I joined Women in Business almost right away. Since then I’ve met some amazing women who’ve become supporters, clients and even really good friends.
I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to share my experience of the journey into entrepreneurship at the recent Yes You Can networking event in Ards & North Down, particularly as the programme strikes a real chord with me and why I do the work I do.
Being a business owner is great but sharing your vision with the market can be hard. I love that here in Northern Ireland SMEs make major contributions to our economy and employment…. but how do we keep our growing businesses prospering? I believe we SHOW what they do, we keep them visually present in their customer’s minds… That’s why, as a professional photographer I love to work to create imagery to tell growing business stories, showing off services, products and premises in the best light possible and helping professionals put their best foot forward, no matter where they are on their journey to growth.
I want to see local businesses grow: I want to tell their stories so they can succeed commercially and help give business owners the success they strive for when starting out in a new venture. I like to think I’m not your average commercial photographer. When I walk through the door of a business (big or small), alongside the right gear for the job I carry with me a decade of corporate experience on the other side of the lens, having worked in large international organisations.
I’ve managed projects, produced reports and presentations, and coordinated the kinds of stakeholder events you might hire me to cover. I’ve had the challenge of getting a message just right for each audience, and choosing the right image to go with it… and that’s why I aim to give my clients a business photography experience that’s as stress-free as possible and perfectly tailored to suit their brand.
