I am a brand and family photographer, based in County Down, passionate about the connections we form in our daily lives. My superpower is seeing the magic in people’s lives and capturing it in a way that allows them to see it for themselves.

I have always loved taking photographs, especially photos of people, inspired by the photos my dad was always taking of our family when I was growing up. I really don’t remember a time when I didn’t have a camera or wasn’t looking at our own albums.

After my second son was born in 2006, my husband bought me my first digital SLR camera and I set about teaching myself everything I could about portrait photography. I began by photographing my own kids and our life, but gradually friends and family started asking me to do family photos for them, and the seeds of my business were planted.

For 14 years I ran my photography business as a side hustle alongside my job as an English teacher in Holywood. I loved the creative outlet it gave me at the end of a busy few days of school, but over time I began to crave more time with my camera and less time in the classroom.

Returning to the classroom after a second lockdown and remote teaching was a real turning point, and I decided that the time was right for me to take my photography full time. In February 2022, I took a career break from teaching and threw myself into building my work into a sustainable business. And it has been quite the learning curve!

During the last year, I have grown a client base of artists and small business owners who have understood the value of professional photography for their brand. Working with artists and makers, entrepreneurs and diversity leaders, charities and independent shops, I have created images that make their brands stand out in a visually driven world. I also run workshops and 1:1 sessions teaching others how to take better photos for their business or for themselves.

I am also on a mission to help get more women in front of the camera and allow themselves to be seen for the beautiful and unique individuals they are. I am yet to have a photo session where a mum or female business owner doesn’t tell me how much they “hate” having their photo taken!

Well, no more!

Your kids, family and friends want to see you in photos, and increasingly, your future clients and customers want to see the person behind the brand. Having a photo shoot with someone who can make you feel relaxed, or even like you aren’t having your photo taken at all, will make the world of difference. And not just to others, but to you.
