Katie McGrath of Wealth Wellbeing
Hi, I’m Katie and I am passionate about financial wellbeing and the impact this can have on our mental health.

As an Actuary and DipPFS certified I have 9+ years’ experience within the finance sector. However, through my own experience, and that of friends and family, I realised there was a significant gap in the education we are provided around finance. Additionally, the anxiety and stress that results from money concerns is increasing prevalent in today’s economy.

In the midst of a financial crisis, increasing costs and rising inflation, there is no doubt about the links between financial wellbeing and people's physical and mental health and the impact on the workforce. Sadly, Northern Ireland has higher levels of mental ill health than any other region in the UK.  1-in 5 adults and around 45,000 children have a mental health problem at any one time.

Research conducted by the University of Cambridge and RAND Europe for Britain’s healthiest workplace identified that an average of 38 productive days per employee per year is lost due to absence and presenteeism. This more than doubles for employees with financial concerns.

I recognised the impact finances can have on individuals’ wellbeing and the desire from many to obtain financial education and better understand their finances, understand the basics and techniques for budgeting and learn how to invest to get their money growing for them. This gap in our education resulted in Wealth Wellbeing being launched August 2022.

Wealth Wellbeing has been established to collaborate with companies focused on enhancing their employees’ wellbeing through providing financial education. Through tailored workshops, Wealth Wellbeing can provide this education often resulting in the reduction of stress and anxiety around managing finances while giving individuals confidence and security in their financial future.

Additionally, Wealth Wellbeing works with individuals providing investment focused educational workshops aimed at making investment and money straightforward and enjoyable. My mission is to empower people with their money and finances, giving them their power back and providing security, confidence, and excitement about their financial future.

I feel incredibly lucky that I can use my financial background to help others, and support organisations enhance their workforce’s, overall wellbeing.
