Pamela Capriglione, Founder of Capri Support

I am going to jump right in and explain that I have two siblings who are autistic and my enthusiasm to enhance my knowledge and understanding on autism was driven by my passion to ensure that I was equipped with the information and resources needed to support my family.

Pamela Capriglione, Founder of Capri Support Encouraging me to delve deeper, I chose a vocational path underpinning my passion and exploiting every opportunity to further my knowledge. I am a qualified teacher and currently hold over 17 years’ experience within the education sector holding senior management roles within schools and education authorities; providing advice, guidance, and support on autism and behaviour.

I founded Capri Support as I saw an increase in referral rates for pupils identifying as autistic, either waiting on a formal diagnosis or beginning their assessment journey having access to limited or no support.  I observed a surge in numbers of autistic pupils requiring support in their mental health and wellbeing as such I have developed a service which is designed to listen to the autistic community whilst supporting them in their emotional health and wellbeing journey. As an Advanced Independent Practitioner of Drawing and Talking Therapy I have been able to support individual pupils or groups of pupils. Parents, schools, and organisations can make a self-referral by contacting info@caprisupport.com.

Capri Support also promotes learning through play. I am passionate about creative learning and incorporate this into my everyday work.  I am a certified and experienced LEGO® Facilitator and a Trainer of LEGO® based methods and approaches, e.g. SIX BRICKS and DUPLO®: Play and Learn (Play Box) and Brick Club.

I strongly believe that the value of creative play is underestimated as it is important to enable people to deal with the stresses and strains of everyday life. Play can be valuable in enabling us to recover from traumatic situations, allowing us to express ourselves in a creative way.
Play has many benefits and provides the foundations and skills needed to foster lifelong learning such as:

  • Communication
  • Development of self-awareness and self-esteem
  • Improving and maintaining physical and mental health
  • Promoting imagination, independence and creativity
  • Building resilience through risk taking and challenge, problem solving, and dealing with new and different situations
  • Enhancing social relationships, strengthening attachment, and promoting empathy

As an experienced teacher, consultant, and facilitator I am extremely passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of others through play-based activities such as Drawing and Talking Therapy, LEGO® based play or Yoga & Mindfulness and strive to ensure that the mental health of pupils is fully supported. I want you to know that help is available.

Training and consultations can be delivered in person, online or through a combination of the two. Further information on these can be found at www.caprisupport.com. I deliver 1:1 or small group emotional health and well-being support for schools, organisations or at Capri Support for further information on these please contact info@caprisupport.com. Updates on Capri support can also be found on FacebookInstagramTwitterLinkedIn.
