Belfast Met has been the delivery partner on almost 100 Assured Skills academies since 2013. Funded by the Department for the Economy NI, this award winning pre-employment programme provides an upskilled workforce which facilitates new inward investors, and provides existing employers with the resource to enable business expansion and growth.

Thanks to Belfast Met's delivery partnership with the programme, over 1400 graduates are now in careers with leading global and local firms based in the greater Belfast area. Over 230 of these graduates have moved into careers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Twelve academies have been delivered during the pandemic already including Microsoft, PwC and FinTrU using an online platform. Before completing the programme many of the graduates were unemployed, underemployed or people wishing to change career.

Assured Skills is open to graduates from any discipline. Successful graduates from academies delivered by the college have progressed to careers in the following fields: cyber security, software development, data analytics, robotics, business consultancy, cloud technologies and FinTech.

The college consults with the participating employer to identify the skills required and together with the organisation develop robust and bespoke training. Assured Skills academies are designed to upskill participants; making them ready for recruitment upon graduation from the academy.

Assured Skills has allowed the college to develop world class courses and integrate cutting edge training and vendor qualifications into curriculum courses.
