Originally from by the sea in Cornwall, our extraordinary member, Fay Speers, sailed the high seas of France at the age of 18 when she earned a position working on a classic Superyacht - spending five years at sea adopting many roles including cook, deckhand, stewardess and bookkeeper.

Returning from see to Donaghadee in 2019, Fay began bookkeeping for various family and friends businesses, including a tech start up, a small construction company, a florist and a property development business. "Despite my initial reservations having never wanted a ‘desk job’, I found that I really enjoyed the business side of accounting and loved the personal side of getting into the nitty gritty of people’s businesses, which after all mean everything to business owners", says Fay.

Having started her AAT accountancy training, with the goal of becoming a qualified accountant, Fay became a qualified bookkeeper in 2018 and is currently studying for the Professional Diploma in Accountancy. With a two-year-old daughter called Isla and her husband, Errol who still works at sea as a yacht captain; Fay began FS Bookkeeping Services to provide a really personal bookkeeping service for small businesses, limited companies and sole traders.

"My main goal is to not only save client’s time, but to help them to understand essential data such as their cash flow position, profit and loss and budgets. I do this through having regular chats with my clients and building a relationship with them and their business to best understand their needs and ensure there is always an open channel of communication".
