Rest in Love Sinead Norton
Wednesday 15 November 2023
Purpose, energy, passion, commitment, genuine, humble.…these are just a few of the words to describe Sinead Norton, who tragically lost her battle with cancer this week. Sinead set up the Mums at Work NI network in 2016. She wanted to have a resource to offer everyday support to women like her who were balancing family with the challenges of entrepreneurship. She ran her business Swift Wedding Services for 15 years, along with raising 7 children! Yet still found the time to start a network. She supported thousands of women through her events, coffee meets and 121 support chats online and offline.
At every event she would personally welcome her guests, know them by name and was always happy behind the scenes looking after everyone. The network has grown to 5.5k online members.
From 2020 when she first developed symptoms to recent weeks, she has stayed at the heart of the MAW network and continued to extend the activities and support. Her resilience and determination to support others has been incredible.
She was a member of Women in Business, a winner of the Person of Purpose Award and co-facilitated events for our start up community. Sinead was always about Collaboration, and how could we support more women in Northern Ireland together.
Her family were an integral part of her MAW journey and her husband Chris was regularly part of the “event management team” along with her older daughters.
The Female Entrepreneurship community have lost one incredible lady, but what she achieved is remarkable and we are so grateful to have had her support and friendship.
Rest in Love Sinead Norton. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Chris and her family.
