NI Positive Birth Conference
Belfast, NI (31st May 2018) -- With the ever-growing focus on positive birth experiences and maternal mental health, ALC Events is launching the first ever NI Positive Birth Conference in conjunction with principle sponsor Waterbabies Northern Ireland.

“Over the last few years, we have seen parents challenging the status quo in the delivery room and looking for information and support to begin their lives as a new family with a positive birth experience,” said Michelle Bradley, Owner of ALC Events. “We also have many health professionals and voluntary groups who want to support these families. That is what this conference aims to achieve, to educate and empower parents and professionals to allow positive birth experiences to become the norm.”

The conference which will take place on Friday 28th September 2018 at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast, is open to anyone interested in positive birth including expectant parents, new parents, health professionals and voluntary groups. Speakers include Mark Harris (Birthing4Blokes) and Milli Hill (Founder of The Positive Birth Movement). Tickets are £30 and can be purchased from the website: www.positivebirthconference.co.uk. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Amy West-Hurst from Waterbabies NI said “When the opportunity became available to sponsor this event, we were keen to get involved. As Northern Ireland’s premier swim school for babies and toddlers, we know all too well the importance of those positive early days experiences and what better start can we give families than that of a positive birth.”

Birth is one of those times in a woman’s life where she faces a huge life-changing experience and yet little emphasis is placed on making this experience as positive as possible. We now know that the process of birthing a baby can have tremendous mental health implications on both the mother and her partner, with birth trauma being one of the main causes of postnatal mental ill health. The aim of this conference is to put the power into the hands of families and their carers to give them the best chance at a good start.

Saffia Farr, Editor of JUNO Magazine said “We are delighted to be the media partner for this wonderful event. We’ve featured both Milli Hill and Mark Harris in the magazine and I found them both to be engaging and informative speakers. Here at JUNO we promote a natural approach to family life and aim to inspire and support parents as they journey through the challenges of parenting, and this starts with birth. We’re proud to be involved with launching the first event of its kind in Northern Ireland.”
