Tell us about your role and your organisation.

I am the Founder of Impact People Consulting.
Impact People Consulting was founded to support small and medium-sized organisations achieve their objectives through the power of their people.
We are all about making sure people are happy and motivated. We focus on creating, implementing and refining HR processes, policies and initiatives that put people right at the centre!
Our purpose is to support SMEs in developing engaged and committed individuals, ultimately boosting their long-term productivity.

Give us a brief overview of your career journey so far.

I've spent the last 18 years In HR, in a variety of industries from tech start-ups through to global financial institutions. My love for the People industry started in 2006 in Recruitment and from there I developed a real passion for supporting people in their career development. As my career progressed, I developed my expertise in areas such as Talent Acquisition, Visas & Immigration, Line Manager development and Employee Engagement, building relationships at all levels and moving on from the transactional level.
When I was 30, I returned to University to complete my Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and to gain my Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development professional accreditation. I am now a Chartered Member of the CIPD and a Fellow of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation.

Since 2012, I have balanced caring responsibilities and working full-time. This journey began when my son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Subsequently, in 2017, my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer, prompting me to become his carer until May this year when he moved into a care home.
As a result of my main caring responsibilities ending, I made the decision to prioritise my own well-being and career in 2023. Consequently, in August, I established my own HR Consultancy with a particular focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Enthusiastic, positive, supportive

What is one skill that helps you most in your role?

It is difficult to choose one skill, but the ability to listen.

What advice do you have for women in your sector/industry/type of role?

Trust your instincts. Stand by your decisions. Live life with no regrets.

Who has been your biggest career inspiration and why?

My mum. From a very young age, she encouraged me to use my voice.
She is the reason I can talk to complete strangers and carry on a conversation. That's been really important in my career!
She also trusts my decisions, and supports me because she knows that I'll have thought it through and I don't go back on decisions!

If you had to pick your soundtrack song to get you through the working day, what would it be?

Anything by Cher, and usually played at a very high volume! High volume!
